Major Update to COVID-19 ED Guideline

A major update was recently made to our COVID-19 ED Assessment & Management Guideline.

This update was primarily in regards to a newly created Oxygenation Overview section.

This involves new information regarding:

• Distinct L & H patient phenotypes with different management strategies for both
• Navigating a path between Patient Self Induced Lung Injury (P-SILI) and machine positive pressure induced lung injury to optimise outcomes by minimising harm – a “modified” early intubation strategy is discussed.
• Permissive Hypoxaemia: Using different triggers to oxygen saturations to escalate oxygenation therapy such a work of breathing and mentation
